PROCESS BREAKDOWN
Business Goals and Mission/Vision Workshop
The first workshop I held was the Business Goals workshop, where I re-confirmed business goals and stakeholders brainstormed about their ideal product.
Needs Gathering Workshop
I conducted six Design Thinking workshops. Workshops were conducted in Spanish at Grupo Bimbo’s HQ in Mexico City, Mexico.
I also interviewed field employees at three Grupo Bimbo stores in Mexico City.
How I typically conduct Design Thinking workshops
Needs Prioritization
Since the end-users population for Grupo Bimbo’s intranet was composed of corporate and field employees with different pain points and goals, prioritizing needs and making sure I designed for most (if not all) users was crucial to the sucess of the project. This also represented a significant design challenge.
I prioritized needs based on the information I obtained during workshops and interviews. As a complement to that, I like to ask my workshop attendees to vote (with colorful voting dots that adhere to paper) on their top priorities. I used that information as data to inform my UX design decisions.
UX and Creative Design
For the look and feel of the intranet I conducted a workshop that I love to conduct as most of my clients always think it’s so much fun. I call it the Graphic Design or Look and Feel workshop.
For that I utilized color printouts of multiple projects my company and I had worked on. I explained each design in terms of look and feel and also I provided a pretty good explanation of functionality features I thought pertinent for Grupo Bimbo.
Then, I asked workshop attendees to place the color dots on the design components they like from each printout.
I also asked them to utilize a specific color dot to designate the functionality features they would have liked to have in their Intranet.
Below, a picture of the Grupo Bimbo team voting during the Look and Feel workshop.
I used Balsamiq Wireframes for the UX design process. Unfortunately, due to some contractual issues, the project was stopped abruptly and I was not able to complete my work.

CONCLUSION
I wish I could have finished this project. I had great ideas for Grupo Bimbo’s intranet and was very excited about seeing the final design that would serve so many thousands of people all over the world. I look forward to having the opportunity of working with Grupo Bimbo again in the future.
